Cocina del Pueblo: Tucson Basin Foodways Online experience

cocinadelpueblo.jpg

“Tucson and the Sonoran Desert offer a rich and celebrated history of foodways and food resilience.“ Their culinary achievements include “food made with indigenous desert ingredients to foods from the colonial period to dishes brought here by immigrants and refugees adapting to local conditions and availability.”

Join them for a three–section course in collaboration with Tucson Meet Yourself and hosted by Chef Liane Hernandez. This course will feature three Tucson culture bearers from the Tucson Meet Yourself Culture Kitchen: Tanisha TuckerDr. Michael Engs, and Barbara Eiswerth. Celebrate local, regional, and global foodways by attending this event!

Each cook will offer a live food demonstration and conversation, which is previously recorded according to social safety protocols in the kitchen of Mission Garden.  Course participants will receive recipes electronically, and this course will be via Zoom with Hernandez and her guests to help them replicate the foods prepared.
