Jonathan Mabry, Ph.D., holds research positions at the Desert Laboratory and Southwest Center at the University of Arizona. Jonathan will show his archaeological investigations that have documented Tucson’s 4,000-year continuous habitation, indigenous subsistence adaptations, and the transition to agriculture and village life in the U.S.-Mexico borderlands in our early history.
Jonathan is a leader in the local and heritage foods movements in southern Arizona, and was one of the many that obtained the designation of Tucson as the first UNESCO Creative City of Gastronomy in the U.S. He serves as the City’s liaison to UNESCO and Executive Director of the community-based non-profit organization Tucson City of Gastronomy.
